Substance Abuse Treatment Services consists of evaluations and intensive outpatient programs for adults. These multifaceted, highly comprehensive programs are designed to help individuals with chemical dependencies and substance abuse issues through individual, group, and family therapy. Cornerstone also offers adult aftercare, DUI school, drug and alcohol education, and prevention seminars. Developmental Disability Services consists of providing psychological evaluations and long-term therapy in a wide variety of modalities from a psychodynamic perspective. Psychologists provide psychotherapy to a population of mentally retarded and chronically mentally ill individuals using two psychodynamic umbrella for various other intervention strategies. In addition to dealing with a wide range of client problems, Cornerstone's psychology staff treat disorders not typically found in the general clinical population such as Prader-Willi Syndrome, Rett's Disorder, Asperger's Disorder, Autism, and Stereotypic Tic Disorder. Rural providers who lack the ability to attract professional psychologists are able to consult with Cornerstone on specific client issues and benefit from staff training. Fellow providers also use Cornerstone's comprehensive on site evaluation services for particularly challenging clients. Typically, these clients are exposed to a thirty day observational period wherein professionals from various disciplines perform detailed assessments. Psychologists incorporate these findings into a single comprehensive evaluation with detailed programmatic suggestions for treatment and management of identified problems.
